LibreOffice is a free and open source office suite, a project of The Document Foundation. It was forked from OpenOffice.org in 2010, which was an open-sourced version of the earlier StarOffice.

LibreOffice comes in two versions. Fresh and still. The Fresh version provides more new features, and is closer to whats being developed in Open Source ┬árepository. While the Still version can offer great stability for those who don’t need any of latest and greatest improvements to LibreOffice. Both versions are available on Linux, Mac’s, Windows and BSD systems.

In this quick tutorial, I’m going to show how to install both LibreOffice Fresh and Still on Arch Linux and other Arch based distributions.

Step 1) Check for system updates

sudo pacman -Syu

Step 2) Install office suit

For installing LibreOffice still, type/ paste following command:

sudo pacman -S libreoffice-still

And for installing LibreOffice fresh type/ paste following command:

sudo pacman -S libreoffice-fresh

Type Y for proceeding with installation.

I hope this tutorial has helped you install LibreOffice in Arch Linux and other Arch based distributions.
